A careful sequence
Power down before maintenance
Switch off or dock the robot before removing brushes, filters, or the dust bin. Keep liquids away from charging contacts.
Clear the main and side brushes
Remove wrapped hair and thread from the brush ends, then check that each brush spins freely before reinstalling it.
Wipe sensors and charging contacts
Use a dry, soft cloth. Dirty sensors can affect navigation and docking even when the motor is working normally.
Empty the bin and inspect the filter
Follow the filter instructions for your model. Replace rather than wash a filter unless the manufacturer says it is washable.
FAQ
How often should I clean a robot vacuum? +
Check the bin and brush after each heavy cleaning session. A deeper inspection every one to two weeks is a practical starting point, adjusted for pets and long hair.
Why does a robot vacuum miss areas? +
Check the map, sensors, brush condition, furniture clearance, and whether the robot lost its saved map. A missed area is not always a suction problem.
